In 2002, a comprehensive packaging system developed for Herbos d.d. introduced a completely new design language that redefined how agricultural and chemical products communicate with the market across Europe. The approach emphasized typographic hierarchy balancing product benefits with safety information, intelligent color-coding by product category, curated photographic selection enhancing narrative clarity, and material choices that elevated brand perception far beyond its functional origins.

These innovations established visual standards later adopted throughout the agricultural chemical industry, including by major international players such as BASF. The work attracted attention from competing companies, leading to subsequent partnerships that validated the strategic approach across different organizational contexts.

Herbos d.d. — Agricultural & Chemical Products

2002-2014 | Sisak, Croatia

Challenge: Create meaningful differentiation in the agricultural chemical market while maintaining full compliance with evolving regulations. Address the commodity perception typical of technical products through strategic visual communication.

Solution: Developed comprehensive design systems spanning over 800 products across crop protection, cleaning solutions, and construction materials. The modular design approach enabled color-coded bottles and caps for instant product recognition, while the typographic hierarchy carefully structured label content into three clearly defined levels — distinguishing key information from supplementary and technical details. This organization allowed product benefits to be prominently communicated without compromising full compliance with GHS/CLP regulations.

This modular approach improves content comprehension through clearly defined visual hierarchy and consistent information architecture. The holistic integration of color, typography, and structural organization establishes design as a strategic component of both branding and operational efficiency.

Special attention was given to optimizing cardboard box formats, which reduced SKU complexity by 60% and significantly streamlined both production and logistics operations. Multi-layer booklet-style labels using accordion-fold architecture solved the challenge of presenting extensive regulatory information while maintaining clean visual presentation.

Scope: Complete visual identity system, packaging architecture for liquids, powders, granulates, and oils. Digital print prototyping enabled efficient iteration cycles, with initial implementation completed within six months, followed by continuous refinement through 2014.

Genera d.d. (Pliva Veterina d.o.o.) — Agricultural & Chemical Products

Challenge: To create a packaging system that would clearly position Genera within the market and establish a distinctive, authentic identity in the agricultural and chemical sector — a system that transcends conventional visual standards while maintaining full production efficiency and regulatory compliance.

Solution: Developed over 200 packaging components including labels, boxes, bags, bottles, caps, and transport packaging. The system architecture optimized readability for agricultural retail contexts while integrating all required safety elements per EU crop protection regulations.

Particular attention was given to information hierarchy that served professional agricultural users who require rapid product identification and accurate application information. The packaging system maintained full regulatory compliance across all EU markets while supporting efficient automated filling line operations.

Scope: Complete packaging system redesign spanning multiple product formats and delivery methods. Implementation coordinated with Swiss-standard filling line specifications to ensure seamless production integration.

Agrochem Maks d.o.o. — Agro-Chemical Products

2007-2014 | Zagreb, Croatia

Challenge: Develop scalable design infrastructure supporting rapid portfolio expansion. Create systems that function as operational tools, integrating design directly with production processes, logistics workflows, and regulatory requirements.

Solution: Established scalable template architecture supporting 93 new product launches alongside redesign of 25 existing formulations. The system accommodated diverse packaging types across liquid and powder formulations while maintaining visual consistency and production efficiency.

Templates were optimized for multiple printing methods including offset, screen printing, and pad printing, ensuring production-ready files from initial concept through manufacturing. The standardized approach reduced time-to-market for new products while maintaining quality control across the expanding portfolio.

Manufacturing & Compliance

Technical expertise spans offset lithography for high-volume production, screen printing for specialty applications including curved surfaces, pad printing for complex component marking, and digital prototyping with rapid turnaround cycles. Material science considerations include substrate selection (HDPE, PET, PP), recycled content integration, and barrier properties optimization.

All work maintains full compliance with EU GHS/CLP regulations (chemicals classification, labelling, packaging), Plant Protection Products Regulation, and Biocide regulations. Serialization and track-trace integration supports multi-market distribution requirements across 27 countries. Design-first compliance approach prevents costly post-design modifications.

Working knowledge of technologies from industry leaders — Krones, Sidel, SIG Group, CFT Group, Ferrum — informs design decisions across container and closure systems, aseptic and high-speed filling solutions, and energy-efficient packaging processes. This technical foundation ensures designs function as complete systems rather than isolated aesthetics.

Current Work: Liquid Point

Independent research project addressing single-use plastic and microplastic waste challenges through sustainable packaging solutions. The work applies decades of production knowledge to circular economy principles, exploring material innovations that align industrial efficiency with natural cycles. Design serves as inquiry methodology, questioning fundamental assumptions about consumption models and material lifecycles.

Transformacija reguliranih industrija kroz strateški dizajn

Dvadeset godina suradnje Goran Juric design-a s vodećim tvrtkama u kemijskoj, poljoprivrednoj i veterinarskoj industriji rezultiralo je s više od 1.000 dizajnerskih rješenja koja su adresirala složene komunikacijske izazove na visoko reguliranim tržištima. Svaki projekt pokazao je kako promišljen dizajn može integrirati regulatorne zahtjeve, proizvodne realnosti i tržišno pozicioniranje kako bi stvorio trajnu vrijednost.

Utjecaj na industriju
Goran Juric design je 2002. godine razvio sveobuhvatan sustav ambalaže za Herbos d.d. gdje sam uveo potpuno novi dizajnerski jezik te redefinirao način na koji poljoprivredni i kemijski proizvodi komuniciraju s tržištem diljem Europe. Pristup je naglasio tipografsku hijerarhiju koja uravnotežuje prednosti proizvoda sa sigurnosnim informacijama, sustavno kodiranje boja po kategorijama proizvoda, pažljivo odabranu fotografiju radi veće jasnoće narativa te dodatne slike na poleđini ambalaže s latinskim i hrvatskim nazivima štetnika ili bolesti koje proizvod suzbija, uz izbor materijala koji je unaprijedio percepciju brenda daleko iznad njegove funkcionalne uloge.

Ove inovacije postavile su vizualne standarde koje su kasnije prihvatile brojne tvrtke u poljoprivredno-kemijskoj industriji, uključujući i velike međunarodne igrače poput BASF-a. Rad je privukao pozornost konkurentskih tvrtki, što je dovelo do novih partnerstava koja su potvrdila učinkovitost strateškog pristupa u različitim organizacijskim kontekstima.

Izazov: Stvoriti značajnu diferencijaciju na tržištu poljoprivrednih kemikalija uz potpunu usklađenost s promjenjivim propisima. Ukloniti percepciju proizvoda kao robe kroz stratešku vizualnu komunikaciju.

Rješenje: Razvijen je sveobuhvatan dizajnerski sustav koji obuhvaća više od 800 proizvoda iz područja zaštite bilja, sredstava za čišćenje i građevinskih materijala. Modularni pristup omogućio je trenutačno prepoznavanje proizvoda putem boja boca i čepova, dok je tipografska hijerarhija strukturirala sadržaj etiketa u tri jasno definirane razine – razlikujući ključne informacije od dodatnih i tehničkih detalja. Time su prednosti proizvoda jasno istaknute bez kompromisa s GHS/CLP regulativom.

Posebna pažnja posvećena je optimizaciji formata kartonskih kutija, čime je složenost SKU-a smanjena za 60%, a proizvodni i logistički procesi znatno su pojednostavljeni. Višeslojne knjižice s preklopnim etiketama riješile su izazov prikazivanja opsežnih regulatornih informacija uz čistu vizualnu prezentaciju.

Opseg: Cjeloviti sustav vizualnog identiteta i arhitektura ambalaže za tekućine, praškove, granulate i ulja. Digitalni prototipni ispis omogućio je učinkovite iteracijske cikluse s početnom implementacijom unutar šest mjeseci i kontinuiranim razvojem do 2014.

Genera d.d. (Pliva Veterina d.o.o.) — Poljoprivredni i kemijski proizvodi
2008.–2021. | Zagreb, Hrvatska

Izazov: Kreirati sustav ambalaže koji jasno pozicionira Generu na tržištu te uspostavlja prepoznatljiv, autentičan identitet u sektoru poljoprivrede i kemije — sustav koji nadilazi konvencionalne vizualne standarde uz potpunu učinkovitost i usklađenost.

Rješenje: Razvijeno je više od 200 komponenti ambalaže uključujući etikete, kutije, vreće, boce, čepove i transportnu ambalažu. Sustav je optimizirao čitljivost u maloprodajnom okruženju poljoprivrednih trgovina te integrirao sve obvezne sigurnosne elemente prema EU regulativi o zaštiti bilja.

Opseg: Potpuni redizajn ambalažnog sustava koji obuhvaća više formata i načina isporuke, uz implementaciju usklađenu s tehničkim standardima švicarskih punilica.

Agrochem Maks d.o.o. — Agro-kemijski proizvodi
2007.–2014. | Zagreb, Hrvatska

Izazov: Razviti skalabilnu dizajnersku infrastrukturu koja podržava brzo širenje portfelja. Stvoriti sustave koji funkcioniraju kao operativni alati, povezujući dizajn izravno s proizvodnjom, logistikom i regulativom.

Rješenje: Uspostavljena je arhitektura predložaka koja podržava lansiranje 93 nova proizvoda i redizajn 25 postojećih. Sustav je omogućio vizualnu dosljednost i učinkovitost u proizvodnji te kompatibilnost s različitim tehnikama tiska.

Pristup: Integracija strateškog dizajna
Zajednička nit svih projekata jest tretiranje dizajna kao strateške infrastrukture, a ne ukrasa. Uspjeh proizlazi iz dubokog razumijevanja proizvodnih realnosti, proaktivne regulatorne integracije i modularnih sustava koji omogućuju rast portfelja bez povećanja složenosti operacija.

Proizvodnja i usklađenost:
Rad uključuje sve tehnike tiska (ofset, sito, tampon), digitalni prototipni ispis i selekciju materijala (HDPE, PET, PP) s naglaskom na reciklirani sadržaj i barijerna svojstva. Potpuna usklađenost s EU GHS/CLP, PPP i biocidnim propisima, uključujući serijalizaciju i praćenje po tržištima.
